Daniel Thedell
My work revolves around the human experience, focusing on the melodrama that we call life. I am fascinated with the way things change. I aim to focus on my own individual perspectives relating to contemporary societal and cultural issues. It is my opinion that artists have always and will continue to play a very important role as record keepers for their generation. As a young painter I feel it is important to contribute to the documentation of this generation, especially from my own perspective. I choose to paint subject matter that is important to me yet relative to contemporary life. The majority of my work revolves around the literal and figurative meanings behind the corrosion and decay of man made objects as well as mans traditions and ideals.

As a child I was introduced to the arts at an early age, learning how to draw and play music from my parents. After studying psychology in college I decided to switch my studies in the direction of painting. Although I left psychology, my appreciation for it still showed up in the artwork that I made. As an art student at San Diego State University I focused most of my attention on painting and photography, realizing the way they coincide with each other. My photography became just as important to my painting as the paintings themselves. In 2008 I received a BA in Art from SDSU with an emphasis in painting and printmaking. I am currently working for an art publishing company, framing art for commercial galleries. I find my knowledge in framing and archival techniques to be important to the way I create my art.
